Apple & Sapodilla (Chikoo) Oats Porridge

What do you do when your toddler refuses to eat the whole fruits?

You think where have you gone wrong. You started right after your baby turned 6 months old. You started with liquids and then gradually progressed to purees and the semi solid food. You followed the 3 day rule and made sure to include varieties in your baby’s food. So where did you go wrong? This is a dilemma faced by every mom of the world.

And the only answer to this is “Keep Calm.. It’s fine. You are doing great. Keep trying and one day your child will ask for that apple bite and your happiness will know no limits. Till then keep practicing your culinary skills and hide those fruits and veggies here and there in your baby’s food.”

One such recipe which helped to put my anxieties to rest was Apple Chikoo Oats Porridge. I was happy because he was eating Apples & Chikoo and my son was happy because it was yummy and his favourite breakfast.

RECIPE:

Ingredients:

  • Oats
  • Milk
  • Apple
  • Sapodilla or Chikoo

Method:

  • Cut Apple in small pieces. Cut Chikoo in half and scoop the fruit with a spoon. Steam the fruits and then blend them to form a puree. Alternatively you can also Cooker for steaming the fruits and then blend them with a hand blender to get a puree.

  • Finally add the fruit puree into the cooked oatmeal and TADA yummy and nutritious porridge is ready.
